John "Dutch" Dietrich has been a fixture on Roanoke elevens for the past four years. This boy comes from Waveland, Indiana to play quarterback his first year, fullback his next two and shifted to his old place at quarter after the loss of Gilbert this year. "Dutch" is about 5'8" tall and weighs 170 pounds. His passing ability is uncanny and has been the working unit of Spruhan's passing attack since "Hunk" Hurt left. Dietrich has gained an enviable reputation as a cool passer under fire and has been estimated by a number of coaches as the best passer in the state.
