Andrew B. Davis, a former well known citizen of Crawfordsville, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. D. R. MacGregor in Marion Friday morning at 3:20. The deceased had reached the ripe old age of 83 years, 1 month and 11 days. His demise was due to paralysis. Mr. Davis had been a resident of Crawfordsville for over 30 years, until the death of his wife two years ago at their home in Jennison Street, after which he went to live with his daughter in Marion. He is the father of Simon C. Davis, one of Montgomery County's prominent farmers, whose beautiful home is located eight miles southwest of this city. His son was at his bedside at the time of his death. Mr. Davis leaves two children, Simon C. Davis, by his first wife, and Mrs. D. R. MacGregor, by his last wife, also a number of grandchildren. He was faithful member of the Baptist church for sixty four years. The first funeral services were held in Marion at the home of his daughter on Saturday at 2 o'clock, after which the body was brought to Crawfordsville and a second funeral was held at the First Baptist church. Rev. Antrobus of this city officiated. The funeral party arrived in this city over the Big Four railway on Sunday afternoon and went immediately to the Baptist church from the train. Mr. Davis had been in failing health since last April, when he suffered a stroke of paralysis, from which he never fully recovered. He was born in Tazwell county Virginia in 1829.
