Esaias H. Cox: Was born in Montgomery county, Ind., Dec. 30, 1837, and w as a son of Elijah and Nancy (Brown) Cox, no longer living. Jan. 21, 186 4, he was happily married to Jennie Lee In Darlington, Ind. His wife w as a daughter of Francis and Catherine (Sheridan) Lee, dec., and was bo rn Dec. 22, 1840, in Clinton county, Ind. The issue of this marriage is ei ght children, born in the order here given: Soloam, Arizona, George dec ., Byron E., Denton, Royal, Pearl and Madge. Comrade Cox was engaged in fa rming and was 29 years old when he decided to fight for the preservati on of his country; he was enrolled October, 1863, from Crawfordsville, Ind ., as a private soldier in Co. B, 120th Ind. V.I., 1st Brig., 1st Div., 2 3d A.C., and was subsequently promoted to Ord. Sergt., 2nd Lieut. and 1 st Lieut. He was never wounded although he took active part in the battl es of Buzzard Roost, Reseca, Burnt Hickory, Kenesaw Mt., Peach Tree Cree k, Atlanta, Jonesboro, Columbia, Spring Hill, Fran klin, Nashville and Wis e' Forks. July 25, 1864, he entered field hospital at Decatur for one mont h, suffering with chronic diarrhea and fever. He was honorably discharg ed Jan. 8, 1865, at Raleigh, N.C. His wife's brother, Francis served in C o. B, 120th Ind. V.I., and was wounded at Wise's Forks which resulted in h is death. Comrade Cox is a member of R. C. Kise Post, 437, and also of Gle nn Lodge, 149 I.O.O.F., he is a farmer by occupation and his address is Garfield, Ind. -- thanks to Jeff S
