For 45 years, Isaac Newton Brent did what he loved.  He administered to the sick!  Although it doesn't seem that he practiced in our county, he did live here his last several yeares and was well known professionally throughout the area, dying at 412 W. Market Street, Jan 13, 1933.  Born in Henry County, Kentucky on AUgust 12, 1845, he was the son of a dotor, Sanford and his wife, Nancy Scott Brent.  He was one of 12 children: one of his brothers, William, graduated from the same college (Hospital College of Medicine in Louisville) the same year, 1875.  Dr. William Brent practice medicine in English, Indiana for many years.  I.N. Brent practiced at Milton, Kentucky for two years, then moved to Pittsboro, Indiana for 23 years.  In 1900, Dr. Brent moved to Jamestown, where he doctored several Montgomery County families and where he and his son-in-law, Dr. Charles Stephenson had an office together.  The son-in-law practiced dentistry.  This was perhaps one of the first area clinicas.  In 1918, after 43 years of doctoring, Isaac decided to aid his country and tried to join the army.  They wouldn't let him, but did accept his help at the Soldier's Home in Lafayette.  During the influenza epidemic, he was the only doctor administering to the 1500 residents working night and day at the age of 73.  He followed his profession from graduation day until forced to retire in 1920, totalling 45 years of service.  He also served on the US Pension Board in Henricks County; was a member of the Masonic Lodge; Knights of Pythias; Red men Lodge and M.E. Church.  He was medical examiner for the NY Life Insurance Company.  He married Tina Quisenberry, daughter of Rev. W>H. and Caroline Quisenberry, and they celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary, September 9, 1929.  Dr. Brent was noted for his human qualities and cheerful outlook on life.
