Dr. James Arthur Walkup Berry died just before his 35th birthday on October 5, 1861 (buried Wesley Cemetery near Waynetown) having been born on the 20th of October in 1826. His wife, Nancy A. Murray was born in Waynetown in 1839 and died there on the 14th of July 1915. They were married January 17, 1857 in Montgomery County and had one son, Charles Berry, who later became a prominent newspaper man in Fountain County. Nancy married Dr. Marquis Bass on the 23rd of January in 1865 but were divorced not long afterward (Dr. Bass went through women pretty quickly) and then live almost 40 years with her final husband, Matthias Brant whom she married the 17th of July 1867. She is buried in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery with Matthias. They had two children together, John W. and Bettie Brant.
