William BARNETT

William Barnett the other son of James and Hannah Enoch Barnett, was a Methodist Minister, died in California Gold Rush in 1849. He married Mary Jane Ellis born 1814 in North Carolina to John and Sarah James Ellis (they later lived in the Maple Grove area). Mary Jane Ellis Barnett died July 28,1907. William and Mary Jane had the following: Lewis Wesley, born 1837, Ladoga married Mary Elizabeth McIntire; served in the Civil War, died Aug.23,1922. Dr. Enoch Edward Barnett born 1839, lived northeast of Ladoga, was a Captain in the Civil War. While he was in Libby Prison, Richmond, VA, he began to study medicine and was in with Dr. James S. McClelland. He and Dr. Griffith were classmates in Medical School. He had tuberculosis and he died in Maryville, CA where he is buried in an unmarked grave.etc. etc.

This book says that James and Anna Enoch Barnett had one son, John who married Jane Creason in Preble Co., OH on Aug. 19,1832. They bought a farm near Maple Grove School, which is ne of Ladoga. John was in the Indiana Legislature 1841-1842. he died in 1884 and Jane died in 1862. They are buried in the Harshbarger Cemetery. John and Jane had 13 children. .....

James and Sarah were married in Ladoga in 1863 and had 10 children. One of their daughers was Sarah J. born 1844 sent to an asylum, married Samuel Parkhurst.
