Ammerman - George W.

GEORGE W. AMMERMAN

Source: Zach, Karen Bazzani.  Montgomery Medicine Men & Women born 1850 or beofre.  Crawfordsville: Montgomery County Historical Society, 2002.

The Montgomery County People's Guide states that G.W. Ammerman was born in Montgommery County in 1846 and was a druggist.  Two George W. Ammermans in Ripley Township (Alamo area) were found in the 1850 and 1860 census and both were about the same age.  A G.W. Ammerman was listed as a druggist but he is not in the 1870 census, so it is probably that he may have been taking some type of medical training at this time.  Also, there were two George Ammermans in the Civil War from our couty, one dying Oct 17th, 1861.

Speculation on my part - kbz:  Now, which he was, not sure, but the People's Guide was published in 1874, so he could probably be the G.W. Ammeriman as a druggist in the 1870 census, which is probably the one in Oak Hill cemetery born Aug 24, 1847 and died Oct 30, 1928 son of Elbert and Olive Bolser Ammeriman.  Wife Alice Campbell (1846-1926).  Just found this man's death record an dhe is listed as a retired baker (died Oct 31st 1928 from an automobile accident - fell on pavement died 6:15 a.m. - JB Griffith, Dr) - Father Goerge Ammerman mother Olive Balsar both b Indiana.

The race is on ... 1924 Crawfordsville, Ind (wife Alice) George W. Ammerman living at 605 E. Market is a painter
1914 same man is a "finisher" (goes along with the painting I guess)
1880 - same man likely age 34 wife Alice b Ind parents b Ohio "Painter"
1900 Union Twp George W. and Alice with daughter Ida - he is listed as a salesman lives on East Market Street

If anyone finds this guy, PLEASE let me know !!
