ALLNUT, TJ, PO Ashby's Mills, son of Ninian and Mary Ann Allnut, natives of Kentuckyy the former born in 1785; died Sept 26, 1858; the latter born 1792, died Feb 16, 1858; was born in Owen County, Kentucky June 15, 1838 and lived with his parents till their demise. In 1862, he enlisted in the Confederate cause, and served as a member of Co C 4th Ky Cavalry for 3 and a half years; was in 42 engagements and escaped with one wound. When the war closed, he engaged in farming in Ky, till in Oct 1869. He came to this county Jan 27, 1870; married Mrs. George A. LONG, widow of DC Long and daughter of John & Sarah FRAME, who was born March 21, 1841 and had one son by her first husband,James C. Long, born March 26, 1860. By the union of Mr. Allnut and Mrs. Long, four children have been born, one living, Sallie born Oct 26, 1870. The others died in infancy. Their home Sec 35 (Scott Twp) - a view of which is seen in the Atlas was the property of Mr. Long, deceased. They are both members of the Methodist Church; and as Mr. Allnutt is successful in farming and stock raising, general prosperity is shown in everything about the house and farm. Typed by kbz

Another of the sterling Kentuckians who left their fair native land and braved the wilds of Montgomery County, Indiana and did much for the subsequent upbuilding of the same was the late Thomas Jefferson Allnutt, a man of many commendable qualities, whose plain, honest life resulted in no little good to his community in many ways. Mr. Allnut was born in Owen County, Kentucky June 15, 1838. He was the son of Ninian and Mary Ann Allnutt, both natives of Kentucky, the father born in 1785 and died Sept 26, 1858; the mother was born 1792 and died Feb 16, 1858. The subject of this memoir grew to manhood on the home farm and he lived with his parents until their deaths, remaining in his native state. When the Civil War came on, unlike many of his neighbors, Mr. Allnut cast his lot with the Southern Army enlisting in 1862, in Co. C 4th Ky. Cavalry, in which he served very gallantly for 3 and 1/2 years during which he took part in 12 important engagements and was once wounded. He was honorable discharged at the close of the war and soon returned home and resumed farming, remaining in Ky until October 1869. He located in Montgomery County Jan 27,1870 and here he married Mrs. Georgia A (Frame)Long, widow of William DC Long, deceased and a daughter of John and Sarah Frame. She had one son by her first husband, James C. Long who was born March 26, 1860. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Allnutt, 3 of whom died in infancy and two are still living: Sallie B wife of William Welch and lives on the William GOodbar place SE of the mother's home. She has one daughter, Naomi. Gertrude May married Arthur Nicholas, who lives in the SW part of Scott Townships, where Mr. Nicholas is successfully engaged in farming. They have 3 daughters: Ina Myrtle; Agens Marie and Gail Belle. Mr. Allnutt was a successful farmer and stock raiser was honest and a hard worker. He and his wife belonged to the Methodist Church. His death occurred Dec 1, 1901. -- typed by kbz
