1954 Gym Dedication

-- Waynetown - Dedication of the new gymnasium of the Waynetown School on Sunday May 2, was marked by a large attendance despite the rainy day. The announced program was given with Larry Hobbs, principal of the school at Sheridan, speaking in place of LV Phillips, commissioner Indiana HS Athletic Association who was unable to attend because of family illness. Mr. Hobbs is a member of the board of controls of the association. Music was by the high school band and choir. Several gift bouquets of flowers were on the stage and there were numerous congratulatory messages. Pictured were: Frank Bunnell, Elmer Biddle, Virgil Wilkinson, members of the advisor board; Linnie Osborn, former trustee; Rev. Burns, pastor Baptist Church; Wilbur Young, State Supt of Public Inst; Marx Merrell, Twp Trustee; Clyde Mitchell, Principal; Rev. Vetters, Pastor Methodist Church; John W. Ward, Co.
