Will of Francis White

In the name of the Benevolent Father of All I Francis White of Martin County & State of Indiana do make and publish this my last Will and Testament.

Item the First--I give my beloved wife all of my land containing about one hundred and twenty acres during her natural life, and all of the stock, household goods, furniture, possessions and other goods and chattles which may be their on at the time of my decease, during her natural life as afore said, the (writing here is unreadable) of as may be sufficient to pay any just debts at the death of my said wife, (unreadable) that the said estate and all of the personal property, household Furniture (unreadable) and other goods belonging to her by (unreadable) of this my last will and testament. (unreadable) sold by private sale or in such manner upon such terms of credit or otherwise as my executor or executors may think proper and the proceeds of shuch Real Estate and property after paying off all just debts contracted by my wife (aforesaid) I direct to be equally divided amongst my lawful heirs.

Item the second--I do hereby nominate and appoint my beloved wife guardian of my two daughters Nancy Ann White and Rhoda Caroline White and my two sons John Gregory White and Charles Harvey White until the said sons and daughters (unreadable) at the age of twenty-one years or (unreadable) my said guardian is hereby conjoined to give my children a good English education and to (unreadable) in habits of industry and in (unreadable) on them as far as may be Christian faith and charity.

Item the third--I do hereby nominate and appoint Elijah Craig and Samuel H. Mitchel executors of this my last will and testament hereby authorizing and (unreadable) them to (unreadable) and discharge in such a manner as they deem proper the debts and claims due me. I do also authorize and empower them if it shall become necessary in order to pay my debts to sell by private sale or in such manner (unreadable) such terms, of credit or otherwise as they may think proper all or any part of my personal property sufficient to pay said debts.

Item the fourth--I also authorize and empower them at the decease of my wife as aforesaid to sell by private sale or in such manner (unreadable) such terms of credit or otherwise as they may think that for the instruct of my Heirs all of my real estate and property accrued to her by virtue of this will and (unreadable) I have (unreadable) set my hand and seal this thirteeth day of December 1857.
