The fiftieth anniversary of the marriage of F. F. and Elizabeth Donaldson Sholts was celebrated on Saturday October 10, 1891, at their residence, Spring Garden, 5 miles south-west of this city. Five generations were present. The mother of Mr. Sholts was the oldest person present being 94 years of age. Mr Fred F. Sholts is 72 and his estimable wife 70 years of age. The spacious farm house was filled with a happy and numerous lot of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grand children, together with a number of visitors from a distance, among them were: Hon. Robert Mears, wife and children of Newton, Kansas; Hugh L Chancy, of Petersburg, Ill; Geo. Riddle and wife and Mrs Mary E. Duncan, of New Albany; William Price and family, of Montgomery, Miss Nettie Daugherty, of Jeffersonville and Mrs Charlotte Oliver, of Sedalia, Mo., the only sister of the groom. Together with the above were the old neighbors and friend of long ao many of them having lived two score and ten in their immediate neighborhood. Each vied with one another in doing honor to the happy occasion. A bounteous repast was served at which seventy-five covers were spread. This feature of the happy time was duly appreciated as was toasted by the heartiness of the company. Many very valuable presents were bestowed upon the the aged couple, too many to mention, however suffice to say, that they pleased beyond all expectation the happy couple on this, their golden wedding day.

Hope for future life and blessings of F. F. Sholts and wife were the parting words of all.
