School Registers

The names of Marshall County students were compiled from nearly 200 township trustee record books. These books include enumerations, enrollment, and attendance records. The Marshall County Museum does not have a complete collection of these books. Plymouth and other town school records are not necessarily included here. Plymouth has a separate index. One of the most useful aspects of the transcriptions is placing specific people in a specific township at a specific time. While property owners/farmers tended to stay in one spot, the men who worked as hired hands or tenant farmers moved every year or two. These records could fill the void created by the missing 1890 census. For copies of the original pages or further research contact the Marshall County Research Library. There are modest charges for this service.
