Abstract Index
This is a wonderful resource available for researchers thanks to generous donations of Marshall County Abstracts from McKesson Title Corp., First Federal Bank, and 1st Source Bank. Hundreds of abstracts (which are no longer used as legal documents, but have tremendous family history) were used to create an index at the Marshall County Historical Society Archive. The names of each owner, date, and a general description of the property (Township and Range) were extracted from each abstract. The Abstract Number (AB#) and page are used by the archive staff to find the particular page within an abstract. Inquiries about the index may be directed to the Marshall County Historical Society Research Library.
There have been thousands abstracts prepared since the beginning of Marshall County. They are no longer necessary to transfer or prove land ownership. We are fortunate to have this collection to use as an historical research tool.
