Less than two weeks ago, Jacob McVery, while returning from Bedford to his home in Spice Valley Township, this county, stopped after dark at the house of Miss Mary Jane Chapman, a maiden lady who lives alone, and attempted to violate her person. Today the young man was sentenced to two years imprisonment in the penitentiary.
