Adelaide Burkhart Quillen
February 14, 1949 QUILLEN WOMAN TAKEN BY DEATH Adelaide Burkhart Quillen of 2206 I Street, was taken by death at 5:15 p.m. Saturday at the Dunn Memorial Hospital where she was admitted January 31. She had been in failing health for nine years and her final illness of one year's duration. Mrs. Quillen was born June 17, 1906, in Brooklyn, New York, and was the daughter of John and Adelaide Schmitt Burkhart. She was united in marriage with Claude J. Quillen Sr., in Bedford on November 25, 1922. Survivors are the husband; one son, Claude J. Quillen Jr., in the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md.; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Burkhart of Bedford, five sisters, Mrs. Walter Inman of Bedford, Mrs. Theodore Neumeister of Bedford, Mrs. Fred Hutton, Oak Ridge, Tenn., Mrs. Louis Liva of Bedford and Mrs. Eugene Givens of Bedford; one brother, Joseph Burkhart of Bedford, and a number of nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts. One son has preceded her in death. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, a member of the Altar Society of the Church and was formerly a member of the P.T.A. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. The Body is lying in state at the Sherwood and Ferguson Funeral Home until the hour of the services.
February 15, 1949 LOLA QUILLEN Final rites for Adelaide (Lola) Burkhart Quillen, who passed away Saturday evening at the Dunn Memorial Hospital, were held at 9:00 a.m. today at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Meinrad Rouck celebrated the Requiem High Mass. The Children's' Choir of the church sang the Mass. Paul bearers were Orville Reynolds, Ivan Bullock, John O'Brien Sr., John Servi, Rudy Deering and Larry Incollingo. The body was laid to rest in Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sherwood and Ferguson Funeral Home.
