BEDFORD SHOE MERCHANT FAILS

A voluntary petition in bankruptcy was filed in the federal court yesterday by Louis Mayer, a shoe merchant of Bedford. He scheduled liabilities aggregating $6,944.86 and assets consisting of a stock of goods valued at $4,000 and collectable debts amounting to $25. He claims an exemption of $600. The principal creditors are Indianapolis, Boston, New York, Chicago, Cincinnati and Louisville wholesale shoe merchants.

WILL START OIL DRILLS AGAIN

At a meeting of the Heltonville Bedford Oil Company held at Heltonville Friday, it was decided to resume work in their field near Heltonville, and money to this end sufficient to complete the desired work was subscribed at the meeting. Work was stopped about a year ago when all the derricks were blown down by a cyclone.

SALE OF BEDFORD BUSINESS BLOCK

The Heitger Hardware Store and Tinware Company of which George Heitger, Sr., George Heitger, Jr., and Louis Heitger are the owners and proprietors, purchased the Webb building on the east side of the public square at Bedford from James Culham, says the Bedford Mail. The price paid was said to have been $8,250.

A BEDFORD DOCTOR FLOOD-BOUND IN AUTO

Dr. J. H. Emery of Bedford, yesterday, was a victim of the flood on the Salt Creek Road to Oolitic. He was driving through the stream when his auto was engulfed, and he was stranded, not being able to reach land. After an hour he was rescued by a farmer who heard his cry for help.
