NAB NEGRO AFTER FIGHT
Howard Jackson, colored enrollee of the Resettlement Camp near Belmont in Brown County, was being held in the Lawrence County jail at Bedford today on a charge of assault and battery on Don Hubbard, another colored enrollee.
Jackson was arrested Saturday afternoon by Sheriff Jack Bruner and taken to the Bedford jail for confinement. He likely will be arraigned this afternoon before Mayor A. H. Berndt in the city police court.
The alleged assault occurred on August 12th in a fight near the camp. Will Luden, a colored enrollee, was acquitted of an assault and battery charge while Thomas C. Coolidge and Nathan Dudley were sentenced to serve penal farm sentences for their part in the alleged attack.
