GROUND TO DEATH UNDER MONON TRAIN
Bishop Hammersly, aged 21, a section hand who lived near Bedford, was ground to death Tuesday night by a Monon freight, but his body was not found until yesterday morning. Hammersly had been in Bedford during the night and, as a through freight was coming through town, he climbed on, and that was the last seen of him alive. The next morning the section men in going to work found the mutilated body lying along the tracks, it being recognizable only by the threads of his clothing. Hammersly was a sober young man it is said and his death is supposed to be due to an accident of his own.
