Local Man Held In Lawrence County Jail
Kenneth Charles Cain, 22, Bloomington Rural Route Three, is being held in the Lawrence county jail for investigation following his arrest Tuesday night Bedford city police. [sic]
Cain's apprehension followed a report received by police from Mrs. Gilbert Fleming, of Bedford, who told the officers that Cain appeared at her home and sought to procure a room. She said he told her he had recently returned from the African battle front, but was unable to name the camp at which he was stationed and recited numerous stories that caused her to suspect he is mentally defective.
He was lodged in jail and Sheriff Lester Hayes said he would contact the Monroe county sheriff.
A bill fold Cain carried contained a Selective Service registration card from the Bloomington board which identified him as Kenneth Charles Cain, and numerous other papers.
