Riley Byers passed away Sunday morning at eleven thirty o'clock after a few hours illness at the home of his brother-in-law, Crawford Johnson, 712 East Sixteenth Street.
He was born to John and Sarah Byers near West Baden, Orange County, May 5, 1858, and at his passing was [illegible] years, 7 months and 25 days of age. Virtually all his life was spent in and around Bedford. At the time of his passing, he was employed by the city and was highly regarded. He was a member of the First Methodist Church. He is survived by the widow, a son, Stephen Byers, at home, and three daughters by a former marriage-Mrs. Joseph Strain and Mrs. Ira Hendricks of Bloomington, Mrs. Riley Chrisley of Gosport, two stepsons, Ross and Sudley [sic] Trainor of Detroit, Michigan.
The remains were removed to the Emerson-Thurman Funeral for burial and will lie in state until the funeral hour. The funeral services will be conducted at this place by the Rev. McClure Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock followed by burial in Clover Hill Cemetery at Harrodsburg. – Bedford Times
