This listing is an older, partial
listing and probably needs corrections made to it when a newer
reading is done.
Area was all the way in the back of the cemetery, West side along fence
row. Part of this area in the farthest most
back portion was later incorporated in Addition I of the cemetery. We
noted below the ones that fall into that category.
The listing below is a combination of
several readings that were done. Would be happy to hear from those of
you
who have information on this cemetery or the families of LaPorte
County. We are entering these cemeteries as quickly
as possible. Contact us at laportecountyin@yahoo.com

Frank Everts was the oldest son of Dr Timothy Everts. Timothy came to LaPorte around 1830 with his brothers, Sylvanus, Gustavus. Ambrose, Aschah, Louise and B Wheelock.
I do believe some of the Everts clan are still in LaPorte. Frank left for Calif in 1849 and his father went in 1857 where he began a Pony Express office in Marysville.
When that burned down, he went to Rabbit's Creek, Calif. There he got the name of the town changed to LaPorte, Calif. (It is a beautiful town, still has Frank's safe
there from the Everts and Wilson Express office he opened). He became ill and left Calif and went to Lincoln, Nebr from there he went back to LaPorte where he
passed away. He father Timothy and mother Maria Holland died in Calif. Frank's wife Sarah Loomis died in Nebraska.
contributor - Pam Speta - pspeta@rosenet.netOn the tombstone of Andrew Mock, row 6, west side. It is hard to read and at first . It should read: Andrew Mock - died-Jan 13 1865-
aged 78 yr (not 28 yr) -3 mo (not 8 mo). A photograph of the stone shows it more clearly. I have a copy of his will and when it was probated in La Porte Co.
It was stated that he died 13th day of January AD 1865 by Moses Miller his son-in-law. Andrew Mock was the father of Fredrika Mock, wife of Moses,
and she is named in his will. The Andrew Mock stone is near that of the Millers. Their daughter Maryetta (Marietta) was married to Sylvester Mill and the
Mill family plot is across the main driveway and up from the Millers. There were many Mill children and some are buried elsewhere in the cemetery.
The parents of Sylvester Mill were George and Elizabeth Line Mill and they are buried in Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, IN. One of the daughters of Sylvester
and Marietta Mill was Mary, my grandmother. She and her husband, Ralph Jackson, are buried in Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN, and so are my parents,
Robert & Hazel Scott Jackson. The Sylvester Mill farm is still there near Union Mills and my cousin and I visited it several years ago.
