Newspaper
articles at the time of the removal and reburial of the persons originally
buried in the Old Buryal Ground and during later construction projects
on the site have revealed the names of some more early citizens of the area
that were buried in the cemetery and for whom no gravestones were found in
Greenwood Cemetery. The following names were listed in the newspapers and if
the search of Greenwood Cemetery revealed their stone, it is so indicated.
This
adds 33 more known persons that were buried in the Old Buryal Ground.
The articles also mentioned the finding of 30 to 40 more remains for whom
there
was no identification. When found, these were also reburied in Section
“E” of Greenwood Cemetery.
