Politics - In referencing LaPorte County History books, we find that Andrew Lawrence Osborn was from Connecticut and arrived in LaPorte County and started practicing law there in about 1837.
He also served in the Senate during the years 1845-1849.

In about 1863 and subsequent years Mr. Osborn served as a director for the LaPorte Reading Room and Library. Around 1872 Mr. Osborn also served as one of the many circuit judges for LaPorte County, Indiana.

Personal life:
Some researchers state that Andrew was the son of Thomas Letsom Osborn of Hartford, Connecticut. At this writing I have no evidence to prove or disprove this statement. However, it is referenced in some family histories and therefore I am placing it on line here to possibly help researchers. Andrew lived out the remainder of his life in LaPorte County and died 13 April 1891 at the age of 76 years. His second wife Abby died on the 26 Mar 1891. She was 73 years of age.

Marriages and Children
1st Marriage - Lucy F. Northam - and Andrew were wed - 3 March 1841 in LaPorte County, Indiana. Lucy and Andrew had at least 8 children, which is noted in the 1850 and 1860 Federal Census, LaPorte County, Indiana.

Children:
1. Catherine "Hattie" Osborn abt 1842 - I show a marriage in 1864 to a Benjamin Owen, but not 100% positive this is Catherine, the daughter of Andrew marrying Benjamin.
2. Clark Osborn born abt 1844 married May Marston 30 December 1868. They had one daughter, Kittie May - born about 1869 in LaPorte Co., IN
Clark enlisted in the Union Army Co. H. 109th Ind. Inf. in 1863 and then in May of 1864 he again enlisted in Co. B. 138th Ind Inf Reg and was MO Sep 1864
Clark appears to have headed West to the Dakotas.
3. Augusta Osborn born November 1847 in LaPorte Co... married Frederick H. Kent 18 December 1872. He was born August 1844 in New York state. They had two children and one still living in the 1900 census     in Beadle , South Dakota.
4. William. Stoddard - about 1849 - does not appear in next census in 1860. (Published in the La Porte County Whig) 2/26/1852 On the 24th Lucy Northam, 9 months 26 days and on 22nd William Stoddard, 2 years     6 months one day, children of Andrew L. and Lucy F. Osborn.

6. Lucy Osborn - born March 1853 - married Benjamin Reece 26 November 1874. They had one son, Robert born in June 1878. In the 1900 census, Lucy shows as being divorced and her only child, Robert, is     living with her. Robert died in 1927 at only 48 years of age.
7. Andrew L. Osborn born June 1856. He wed Roenna or Roena A. White in St. Jos. Co 10 July 18 1874 - Andrew III their son was born August of 1879 and they named their other child, a daughter, Roena born     at the end of 1879.
8. Jeremiah "Jerry" Osborn - born August 1858 does not appear to have gotten married. He is living with his uncle Daniel Northam in Scipio Township in the 1900 census and working as a Day Laborer.
He may have moved to Woodbury Co., Iowa
9. William F. Osborn - born in 1860. The 1880 census shows him still living with parents and working on the Railroad. I could not locate him in Census after the 1880 year.

2nd Marriage - Abby Jane Northam on the 26 November 1863 - no children by this union.

Extra note, later Jeremiah "Jerry" is living with his Uncle Daniel K. Northam in the census in LaPorte County, Indiana
