Brayton Family

With information from: research done by Rhoda J. Ensweiler Cline about the Brayton Family:

"Luther Lawrence Brayton, son of William Brayton and Elizabeth Irwin, was born 19 September 1841 at La Porte County, Indiana (information from a family Bible). On 15 December 1864 at La Porte, La Porte County, Indiana, he married Harriet Amanda Jones. (Book R-E p 517) Harriet was born 25 January 1844 at La Porte County, Indiana. "Luther died of cancer 16 December 1906 in La Porte County, Indiana, and is buried in Door Village Cemetery in La Porte. His death certificate states that he was widowed, and that his late wife, Mary, was the daughter of John Osborn. Harriet must have died previously and Luther remarried."

Mary Brayton who died 20 August 1903, but there is no death record for a Harriet Brayton or a marriage record for Luther to a Mary Osborn. By 1900, he was widowed, according to the census. "Hattie" was living in 1880.
