Yarger, Beneville - obit July 3, 1890, page 5, col 6, "LaPorte Argus", LaPorte, Indiana:   Beneville Yarger died at his home in Wanatah, of heart disease, July 1, 1890. On Sept 19, 1814, he was born in Berks Co, Penn. On June 13, 1833, he joined in holy wedlock with Hetty Campbell in the town of Hartleton, Union Co., Penn. In the spring of 1851 he removed to Flat Rock, Seneca Co, Ohio. In the fall of 1861 he moved to Carey, Wyandotte Co, Ohio. In the spring of 1866 he moved to Morgan Station, LaPorte Co, Indiana. On Dec 20, 1872, his wife Hetty died. There was born to this union twelve children, two of whom preceded their mother to the spirit world. On the 15th day of May 1874, he was married to Mrs Marie Herman, of Baltimore, Md., who still survives him. In the year 1881 he moved into his pleasant home in the town of Wanatah, where he continued to reside until his death. In politics Mr Yarger was a Republican. He has held the office of assessor in Cass township for 20 years, for the past 18 years successively. He was a live working member of the Evangelical association, always ready, under all circumstances, to do anything that the mind could conceive, or the spirit might prompt, to advance his Savior's cause. He died in full assurance. His faith never faltered, nor during his long and painful illness did he once murmur or complain. He leaves a wife and nine children and a host of friends to mourn his loss. Mrs Chesty Gross, his second daughter died Feb 27, 1890, only preceding her father four months. - Contributed by Judy Morgan.

Yarger, Fredrick - "The Herald", Medaryville, Indiana, December 13, 1928    Fredrick, son of Benville and Hetty Yarger, was born June 21, 1855 near Flat Rock, Ohio, and passed away December 8, 1928. He was a member of the Methodist church. At the age of 10 years he moved with his parents to a farm near Wanatah, Ind., where he grew to manhood. In 1880 he was united in marriage to Ida B. Yarger who preceded him in death in 1907. In the year 1895, Mr. Yarger moved to Medaryville and has lived here since that time, being engaged in building and contractors supplies. He was united in marriage in 1909 to Mrs. Etta Hardesty of this city. Besides the widow, he leaves two step-sons, Charles of Hammond, Ross of Hammond, and one step-daughter, Mrs. Floss Bradberry of Gary, one sister of Lincoln, Neb., one sister of Centralia, Wash., one brother of Denver, Colo., and several nieces and nephews, besides a host of friends and neighbors.

Yarger, George E. - unknown newspaper - died 2/28/1892 in Chicago, Illinois
   GEORGE E. YARGER, former LaPorte resident, died February 28, 1892 in Chicago, Illinois. He was born in Thompson Township, Seneca Co, Ohio November 3, 1851, son of Benevel and Hettie (Campbell) Yarger. I 1866 his family moved to Wanatah, Laporte Co., Ind. He was educated in the common schools, and Bryant & Stratton's Business College at Chicago. He left home when seventeen years of age. Mr. Yarger was married on July 17, 1881, to Ellen, daughter of Henry and Anna Maraches, of Ohio. Burial in Morgan Cemetery.

YARGER - obit "LaPorte Daily Herald-Argus", Tuesday, Jan 1, 1935 Mrs Harriet N. (Osborn) Yarger, age 85, former postmaster at Wanatah and the first Sunday school superintendent of the Wanatah Methodist church, passed away last Friday in Indiana Harbor. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the H.A. Boehlke funeral home in Wanatah. The Rev. E.W. Nugent officiated and burial was in Morgan cemetery with H.A. Boehlke in charge. Mrs Yarger was born in Summit, N.J., on Oct 22, 1848. Early in life she joined the Methodist Episcopal church with her parents. In 1878 she was married to William Perry Yarger who was then postmaster at Wanatah. She was an efficient aid to him in the post office and at his death, was appointed postmaster. Soon after she came to Wanatah she identified herself with a union Sunday school. When the Methodist church was organized at Wanatah she actively engaged in the Sunday school as teacher and superintendent, continuing the work until she moved to Indiana Harbor. She is survived by one son, Ben Yarger of Cleveland, Ohio, one daughter, Mrs Ella Spangler of Indiana Harbor, three grandsons, Greig Yarger of Minnetta, Illinois, Maurice Yarger of South Bend, and Leonard Spangler of East Chicago. Of a family of five children, one brother, Stephen B. Osborn of Detroit, Mich., still survives her.

Yarger, Mrs. Hattie - La Porte Daily Herald-Argus - Monday, December 31, 1934
   Funeral services were held at 1 o'clock this afternoon at the Methodist church in Wanatah for Mrs. Hattie Yarger, age 85, former Wanatah resident, who passed away Thursday at her home in Indiana Harbor, Ind. She was the widow of William Perry Yarger. The Rev. Nugent officiated. Burial was in Morgan cemetery, with H.A. Boehlke of Wanatah in charge. A complete obituary will be published later.

Yarger, Philip Jr. - May 25, 1907 South Bend, Indiana newspaper
    Philip Yarger died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Roth, 404 West Jefferson street, at an early hour this morning. Had Mr. Yarger lived until tomorrow he would have been 88 years old. He had been ill about two weeks. Mr Yarger was born in Reading, Pa, and for many years made his home at Hanna, Indiana. He married Marie Welper in Aug 1839; she died several years ago. Besides Mrs. Roth he leaves one other daughter, Mrs. John Redinbaugh, of Hanna. A short service will be held at the home of John Roth Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock, Elder Noah Platz officiating. The remains will be taken to Hanna for burial. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The remains will be laid to rest in Morgan Cemetery at Hanna. - Contributed by: Judy Morgan

YARGER, WILLIAM PERRY - Oct 28, 1898 LaPorte, Indiana "Herald-Argus"
    William Perry Yarger, postmaster at Wanatah, died quite suddenly at his home in that place a week ago tonight, aged somewhere about sixty years. He was born May 3, 1838 in Hartley, Union Co, Penn, and came to Indiana with his parents when a boy and located in Cass township where he resided nearly all the time since. His funeral was held Monday forenoon at the Christian church in the village, the pastor assisted by a number of other pastors of the place officiating. The attendance was very large, and the floral offerings profuse.
  We had expected up to late this, Thursday, afternoon to obtain such data as to enable us to give a full biography, etc of Mr Yarger, but failed in obtaining it. Next week, although late, we shall present his life and character more at length.
    Perry Yarger, as all called him, was more than an ordinary man. For more than thirty years we had known him. He was at that time our friend, honest, and sincere. We saw him last week ago Sunday. We went to Wanatah by rail Saturday night expecting to go up into Clinton to stay until __________( rest of obit is cut off.) Burial in Morgan Cemetery.
     William Perry Yarger, son of Benneville and Hetty (Campbell) Yarger, was born in Hartleton, Union County, Penn., May 3, 1838, and died in Wanatah October 21, 1898, aged 60 years and 7 months. He was the third son of twelve children, five girls and seven boys. Two brothers, two sisters, mother and father preceded him to the mystery land. In his 12th year his family moved to Flat Rock, Ohio and in 1866 the family moved to Morgan, Indiana, to become farmers. He had always lived in LaPorte county since his coming to Indiana, with the exception of three years spent in Kansas in search of health. Mr Yarger was married November 6, 1878, at LaCrosse, Ind., to Miss Hattie Osborne, to which union was born a son and a daughter, Elias Benneville and Ella Burnett, who now, in this bitter hour of sadness, are their mother's arm of protection and hope for comfort. The family has the sympathy of the entire community and a large circle of close friends besides.
