Kaufmann, Rudolph – Died Feb 24, 1949 Rudolph Kaufmann, 80, of 8456 Euclid Avenue. Chicago, died at ll:05 o'clock this morning at the Fairview hospital. The son of Andrew and Louise Kaufmann, he was born in Chicago on April 8, 1868.
On. Jan. 8,1890 in LaPorte he was married to Sophia Lange, who survives. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Dora Evans of Whiting and Mrs. Christine Bryan, Chicago. One daughter preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Griesel Chapel, 10240 Ewing avenue, Chicago, with the Rev. Mr. Stauch officiating. Burial will be in Pine Lake cemetery. O.M. She had been a resident of this city since 1920. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Marvin Haas funeral home with Rev. Floyd H. Pence officiating. Burial will be in Heston. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday until the hour of service. Mrs. Keene was born Nov. 27, 1877, in Illinois, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Arnst. She was married Dec. 12, 1897, in New Buffalo, to Frank Keene, who preceded her in death in 1909. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Iseminger, this city; and Mrs. Charles Ritzler, Buchanan, Mich.; and four grandchildren. The deceased had been a member of the First Christian church, Women’s Relief Corps, Daughters of America, Royal Neighbors, Women’s Benefit Assn. and the Conservation club.
Kelley, Joseph C. - News Dispatch, Michigan City, Ind - Monday, January 11, 1954 Joseph C. Kelley, 78, Elsie, Mich., was dead on arrival at Doctors Hospital at 8:15 p.m. Saturday after suffering a heart attack at the Wagon Wheel Restaurant. He was visiting here.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.m. Wednesday in the Carlisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald C. Ford officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow afternoon and evening and Wednesday until the hour of the service. Mr. Kelley was born Sept 6, 1875 in Clair County, Mich.
Surviving are six sons - Vernal of Ovid, Mich,; Joseph and Roy borh of Muskegon, Mich,; Donal and Neil both of this city; three daughters; Mrs. Robert Crimp and Mrs. Frieda Isenblatter, both of Halfmoon Bay, Calif., and Mrs. Norman Kelley of Detroit, Mich., and 34 grandchildren.

He was born, July 9, 1910 in Roswell, S.D. to Herman and Myrtle (Franklin) Kenyon and had lived here for 33 years, coming here from Roswell. He was married April 8, 1934 in Mitchell, S.D. to Iris Kewley. Mr. Kenyon was a member of the First United Methodist Church, LaPorte Excelsior Lodge 41, Convenant Shrine 21 and was Past Watchman of the Shepherds. Mr. Kenyon was a retired employee of Allis Chalmers. Surviving are his wife, one son, Franklin Kenyon of LaPorte, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. One son and his parents preceded him in death. Funeral services will be at the Haverstock Funeral home with Rev. W. Leon Hartman officiating. Burial will be at Patton Cemetery. Kenyon, 81 of Schneider drive, Oregon Wis., died at her home last night following an illness of one month. She was born Sept. 27, 1881 in Parker, S.D., to Lafayette and Emma Franklin and had lived in Wisconsin for one and a half years, going there from LaPorte. She was married in 1909 in Parker to Herman Kenyon. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, was a past noble grand of the Rebekah lodge, and a past officer in the Royal Neighbors. Surviving are on son Keith Kenyon, LaPorte; on Grandson, Franklin Kenyon, Kingsford Heights, and one sister, Mrs. Flora Miller, Hannah. Her husband, one brother and one sister [preceded her in death. Funeral service will be held at 1 pm Monday at ther Haverstock Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Floy L. Blewfield officiating and burial in Patton Cemetery. Friends may call at the Haverstock chapel from tomorrow evening and until the time of the services. LEO KEPPER An error in the announcement of a death yesterday, gave the name KEPPEN, when it soul have been KEPPER, . Mr. Elizabeth Kepper, wife of Leo Kepper, died at the home of Mr. And Mrs. John Hensell, 516 West Eleventh street, of old age and paralysis. Deceased was a native of Hanover, Germany, where she was born July 9, 1841, being 79 years of age last July. She came to this country in 1865. She was married to August Schultz. The husband died, leaving a widow and two children, now adults, August Schultz, residing east of thee city, and Mrs. John Hensell at whose home the mother passed away. In the early 1880's she was married to Leo Kepper, who now survives her. Deceased has lived in this city and in Coolspring township for more than 50 years. Besides the husband, she is survived by two adult children, 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was a former member of St. Paul's church. Funeral from the Hensell home, Friday. Rev. KEPPER, LEO - Michigan City News Wednesday Dec. 3, 1890 Leo Kepper, the 9-year-old son of Mr. & Mrs. Leo Kepper, residing near Waterford, whose recent illness THE NEWS has mentioned, died Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. He had been ill just ten weeks to the day. He was first afflicted with what appeared to be inflamatory rheumatism, but it afterwards developed that it was multiple suppurative asteomyelitis. Dr. Cole performed an operation, removing a piece of deceased bone from the boy's right AR. A large abscess on the hip joint was lanced and a pint of more of matter was taken therefrom. The disease seemed to spread throughout the boy's system and his bones nearly all became diseased. His recovery seemed impossible from the first and about all that could be done was to comfort him as much as possible while he lived. The boy suffered untold agonies, and death was awelcome relief. The funeral will be held from the church at Waterford, Tuesday afternoon. Rev. J. Vollmar, of St. Paul's chuch this city will officiate. Burial in Lowe cemetery. Submitted by: Laura J. Heckman.
KEPPER, LEO - Michigan City Evening Dispatch Thursday Sept. 9, 1926 Leo Kepper, 516 West Eleventh streets, died at 5:30 o'clock Wednesday evening, following an illness that extended over a period of three and a half years. His death was attributed to paralysis and old age. He was born ion Dec. 26, 1844, in Germany, and had lived in this country 40 years. He was a farmer by occupation. In 1878 he and Eliza (Bilka) were united in marriage in LaPorte. She preceded him in death. Surviving him are one step-daughter, Mrs. John Hensell, of 516 West Eleventh street, this city and one stepson, August Schultz, of Corymbo. The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon from the home at 516 West Eleventh street. Rev. Ralph Karney, pastor of the Calvary Baptist church, will officiate. Burial will be in (Midway), Waterford Cemetery. A. L. KEPPER, SOPHIA ELIZABETH - Michigan City Evening News Wednesday May 8, 1901 DEATH WAS INSTANT MISS SOPHIA E. KEPPER STRUCK BY LIGHTENING Had been fishing near her home at Waterford and was found dead on the grassy bank beside a stream on May 6, 1901. Miss Sophia Elizabeth Kepper, young lady & daughter of Leo Kepper residing at Waterford, was struck and killed instantly by a bolt of lightening between 3 & 4 o'clock Monday afternoon. A half hour later her dead body was found by her step-mother on the grass near the bank of a creek in which the girl had been fishing. Mrs. Kepper called to her husband and he came & tried to awaken his daughter and then telphone call was sent to the city for Dr. F. R. Warren, who hurried to the Kepper home and found the girl lying where she had fallen dead. The body was then removed to the home. The body bore evidence of its contact with the electric fluid. There was a large burned spot on the breast in the region of the heart and the young lady's right limb was burned from the knee to the foot. The stocking was torn and the shoe was partly torn from the right foot. The body was discolored from head to foot. Miss Kepper was born at Waterford December 29, 1878, and always lived with her father on the farm. She leaves a step-sister and step-brother, children of Mrs. Kepper, who are Mrs. Alvina Kepper and August Schultz, residin in this city. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon, from the church at Waterford, Rev. H. Wickemeyer of St. Paul's church, this city, officiating. Edward F Kilmer - Edward Franklin Kilmer, 83, of 711 1-2 Indiana Avenue, died at 7:15 o'clock last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Souder, following an illness of two days. The son of Henry and Alma Kilmer, he was born on September 3, 1860 and had lived in LaPorte county all his life, having been a farmer in Springfield township. He lived in LaPorte for the last 40 years. On April 21, 1884, in Niles, Michigan, he was married to Anna Provolt who preceded him in death. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs Anna Souter, Mrs Mary Brown, and Mrs Mildred Struss all of LaPorte; one step-daughter, Mrs Etta Provolt Kilmer of Michigan Cityl one step-son, Ira Provolt, LaPorte; one adopted son, Opal Kilmer, Valparaiso; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Kilmer, Michigan City, and George Kilmer, Springfield township. Mr. Killmer[kilmer] was 75 years of age at the time of this death. He owned a farm near Hack's Mills and resided there for the past thirty years, until he moved to this city. He leaves two daughters and four sons to mourn his death. They are: Mrs. Ida Merchant, of Hanna; Mrs. Ada Brown, of Springville; William Killmer[kilmer], of Michigan City; Edward Killmer[kilmer], George Killmer[kilmer] and Charles Killmer[kilmer], of Hack's Mills. State's Oldest Mason Dies Age 100 in Westville

Benjamin Franklin Kimbrel, 100, Indiana oldest Mason, died today in his home at Westville, the second civil war beteran to die in northwestern Indiana this week.
Kimbrel's death occurred only a few hours before funeral services were held at nearby Hammond for the Rev. George R. Streeter, 96, former state Grand Army of the Republic Champlain and inspectore who died Sunday.
Kimbrel was a native of Greenville, Ind. He reached the century mark Oct 15. In the civil war he volunteered for service with the Union army at Camp Noble, New Albany, Ind., at the age of 18.
He participated in 17 civil war battles with Company H of the 66th Indiana Volunteers and was with Genearl Sheman on his famous march to the sea.
Kimbrel once lived in Chicago, moving to Westville in 1916. His wife, Mary Elizabeth, 86; two daughters and a son survive. Funeral services will be held Saturday.

No undertaker was called until last evening and the fact of the death did not become public until then. The parents are Russian and the father, immediately after the child's death, set out for Gary to obtain the services of a Russian Catholic priest, who will conduct the funeral, which was held at the home at 11:45 a.m. today, the interment being in St. Joseph's cemetery. She was born Aug. 23, 1913, in Oglesby, Ill., to Anton and Anna (Walczyk) Kowalczyk, and had lived in LaPorte for 68 years, coming from Oglesby. Mrs. Kowalski was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Rosary Sodality, Martha Circle and choir of that church, had retired as a finisher after 10 years at Indiana Moulding and Frame Co. and was a volunteer at St. Joseph's Curiosity Shop. On April 21, 1938, in LaPorte, she married John Kowalski, who died Jan. 5, 1964. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Josephine Baima, and four brothers, Carl, Anthony, Francis and Joseph Kowalczyk. Kowalski, Pete - LaPorte Herald Argus October 20, 1939 Page 4 Pete Kowalski, age 23, of 522 Niesen street, passed away at his home at 6:15 last evening after a year's illness. The son of Paul and Zena Kowalski he was born in LaPorte on Sept. 10, 1916, and had lived here all his life. He is survived by his parents; one brother, John Kowalski of LaPorte; two sisters, Mrs.Vera Bayes of LaPorte and Miss Juanita Kowalski at home. Mr. Kowalski graduated from LaPorte High school in 1935. He was widely known among baseball players and fans. He played on the high school team and later played independent baseball with local nines. Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Monday morning at St. Joseph's Catholic church. The Rev. A. C. Van Rie will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery with the Haverstock Funeral home in charge. Mr. Kowalski was born in Korbin, Russia, on Jan. 15, 1884. A retired Allis-Chalmers employe he had lived here for 47 years. He was married in Russia on Nov. 6, 1906 to Zena Sahk, who preceded him in death. Surviving are one son, John, and one daughter, Mrs. Grover Smith, both of LaPorte; one brother, George Kowalchuck, of Brooklyn, N. Y., and nine grandchildren. She was born in Laporte on August 13, 1911 and had lived in South Bend nine years, going there form LaPorte. In 1934 she married Elmer Kreidler who died five years ago. Mr. Krout was born in Montgomery county, Indiana on June 26 1873. He had lived here for the past five years, coming to LaPorte from Veedersburg, Ind. He made his home with a daughter, Mrs. Jewell Hagle. In1890 Mr. Krout married Elga Huts. He was a member of the Methodist church at Covington, Ind. Surviving are two sons, Chalres Krout of Logansport and James Krout of LaPorte; six daughters, Mrs. Laura Newnum of Plainwell, Mich., Mrs. Amy Miller of Francesville Ind., Mrs. Grace Jungles of Rensselaer, Ind., Mrs. Jewell Hagle, Mrs. Lona Cavander and Mrs. Marie Biege of LaPorte; one sister, Mrs. Mary Switzer of Krauge, Ind.; one brother John Krout of Brazil Ind. 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Krug, Mrs. August - June 2, 1935 The funeral of Mrs. August (Leona Liedtke) Krug will take place at 2:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon from the Carlisle Funeral Home. Rev. A. T. Buckler, pastor of St Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, will conduct the services. Interment will be in Greenwood cemetery. The body may be viewed this evening and Wednesday at the Carlisle funeral home. Mrs. Krug was born December 29, 1908 in Michigan City and is survived by her husband, August Krug, her father Otto Liedtke and five brothers and two sisters.
KRUEGER , ADOLPH - Michigan City News Dispatch March 12, 1942 - Adolph Herman Krueger, 69, died at 5 this morning at his home, 816 Cleveland, after an illness of four years. He had been employed as a watchman at Michiana Products. He was born April 19, 1872 in Germany and had been a resident of this city for 40 years. He was married here on Feb. 13, 1904, to Caroline Feil who survives. Also surviving are several children: Mrs. Stanley Kaufman, Mrs. Russell Schwanke, both of this city, Mrs. Lloyd Hartford, Carl and Walter, Battle Creek, Albert, St. Louis, Adolph, Detroit; six grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Jesch, this city, Ferdinand Jesch, Cuba City [sic s/b Yuba City], Cal., and one sister in Germany. Elwood A KRUGER, 74, of 215 B Street, died at 1:04 p.m. Thursday at Pine Lake division hospital. He had been ill for 13 years.
Mr. KRUGER was born in LaPorte on July 31, 1894 to William and Lucy (DUNN) KRUGER. He lived here all his life. He was married in LaPorte on July 31, 1915 to Ethel McGARITY, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, James, of Portage, Ind.; five daughters, Mrs. Leland (Martha) BRADY, Mrs. Ernest (Enid) SCHMIDT and Mrs. Jack (Barbara) TRAVIS, all of La Porte; Mrs. Harry (Meredith) MEYER, Mill Creek; and Mrs. W. R. (Eunice) STICKLEN, Champaign, Ill.; 18 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Harry W. KRUGER, LaPorte; one sister, Mrs. George BATCHER, LaPorte. Two sons, one daughter, four brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.

Hughes, 1318 1/2 Washington street, at 1 p.m. today. Deat was caused by apoplexy. Mr. Kuehne, who lived at No. 1 Kuehne court was working at the property at 1318 1/2 Washington street when he took ill. His wife was called and reached his side a few minutes before he passed away. August Kuehn, age 74, No. 1 Kuehne court, and who died suddenly Tuesday noon at 1318 Washington street, was born in Germany April 14, 1848. He came to this country from Germany and had lived in La Porte for many years. He was an employee of the Advance Rumely company for a long time. Mr. Kuehne married Emma Zieke in Germany. She passed away 16 years ago. In 1908 he married Helene Hein. The deceased man was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge. Besides the widow, three daughters from Mr. Kuehne's first marriage survive. They are: Mrs. Bathasar Luchsinger of La Porte; Mrs. August Wolf, San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. D. E. Baker, Portland, Ore. Two stepsons, Robert O. Hein, Chicago, and Walter Hein, Dayton, O., also survive besides six grandchildren. The funeral services will be held at the residence at 2 p.m. Saturday . The Rev. G. G. Mrs. Kuehne was born in Germany and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Putskow. She had lived here since 1908, which was the year she left Berlin, Germany. She leaves two sons and three stepdaughters. They are Robert O. Hein of Chicago, Walter R. Hein of Dayton, O., Mrs. Anna Luchsinger of La Porte, Mrs. Helen Wolff of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Ella Baker of Portland, Ore. One grandson also survives. Mrs. Kuehne was married to August Kuehne in this city in 1908. Her first husband died in Germany. Funeral rites will be held at the home at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. G. G. Friends wishing to view the remains may do so at the home of her son, Charles, at 102 State street. The funeral service and burial will be at Sauktown at 11 o'clock Sunday morning.
