ISBEY - MRS. CAROLINE ISBEY, Died on 26 Jan 1954 Mrs. Caroline Brinkman Isbey, Detroit, Mich., formerly of Michigan City, Ind, died yesterday in Detroit. Burial services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday in Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. David J. Reid officiating. The remains will arrive here Thursday morning and will be at the Hummer Mortuary until time for removal to the cemetery. A native of this city, Mrs. Isbey was the widow of Edward J. Isbey. She is survived by three sons, Hubert E., Frank N. and Dr. Edward Isbey, all of Detroit, and a brother, Louis J. Brinkman.
EDWARD ISBEY, - VICTIM OF RAIL, Died 13 Jan 1913 Well known railroad man killed in Chicago. Mr. Isbey stepped from M. C. Engine and was struck by Illinois Central Engine about to take out passenger run. Edward Isbey of Michigan City, Ind., a well known Michigan Central freight conductor, was killed at 3 o’clock this afternoon at Harrison Street, Chicago, Ill. Mr. Isbey was called to return east on a passenger run. He was riding from the Chicago yards to the Chicago depot on a Michigan Central engine. He stepped from the engine at Harrison Street, and was struck by an Illinois Central engine on the next track. He fell on the rail and his body was literally cut in two lengthwise. The Illinois Central engine was moving at a low rate of speed, estimated at eight miles an hour, but could not be stopped.
ISTATT, WILLIAM – Unknown La Porte newspaper, 31 May 1933 Mr. Istatt, a native of this city, was widely known, throughout the county. He was engaged in farming and the dairy business at Rolling Prairie, and associated with him were two sons, William Istatt Jr., living northwest of Rolling Prairie, and Richard, at home. Mr. Istatt recently made improvements at his dairy, located in his home, and he had no business worries. On last Monday he went to Niles, South Bend and Michigan City and paid in full all outstanding accounts against him. Funeral services tomorrow will be held at 2 p. m. Daylight Saving time, at E. E. Ebbert’s chapel here. The Rev. F. G. Kenny will officiate and burial will be in the Rolling Prairie cemetery. The body may be viewed this afternoon and evening until the time of the funeral tomorrow at the Ebbert chapel. The son of John and Ellen (Miles) Istatt, the deceased man was born in La Porte on April 22, 1860. He had lived in the county all his life. On March 27, 1884, he married Caroline Cook in La Porte. On March 27 of next year the couple would have observed their golden wedding anniversary. Surviving besides the widow and two sons are four daughters, Mrs. Fred Luderman and Mrs. James Shippee of Moline, Ill., Mrs. Louis McNeal of Rolling Prairie and Mrs. William Rydzy of Michigan City; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
