Commencing in 1882 County Clerks in Indiana were required to record births and deaths reported to the Clerks Office. Births
that took place prior to October 1, 1907 will only be recorded in the office of the local health department. Birth records after
that date should also be recorded in the office of the Indiana State Department of Health Vital Records Department and the
Local County where birth occurred. Please remember, even in 1882, not all births were being reported to the Clerk's office.State Archival Research and filing for Birth Record (after 1907) Application

Birth Date Calculator is a useful tool for genealogists. It is designed to calculate the birth date when the age at death and the date of death are the only facts known.
Sometimes, this is often the only information recorded on older headstones.
Birth Date Calculator from Tombstone Information
Note regarding Birth Date Calculator: Calculations may be 1-3 days off. No one really knows exactly how stonecutter's figured the age of the person. Did they use a formula, count off the days between birth and death, did they figure in Labor Day? Varying methods could have been used. These methods work okay for approximate birth dates, but it should be understood that these date's are most likely not correct. In running a several step process from when the stonecutter first figures the age from the birth date and carves the date on the stone and then someone tries to do just the opposite, there is lots of room to make errors along the way.
