THREE YOUTHS HURT IN FATAL CRASH IMPROVE
Three youths who were injured Saturday in a LaGrange auto
accident that resulted fatally
for William KARNAFEL age 27 of 1021 170th Street, Hammond,
were reported recovering.
KARNAFEL died of a broken neck.
The auto driven by John GIBA 28 of Hammond, and bearing
Casimir ZEMBRUSKI 30 of
Hammond, Mike MARANTIC, 23 of Bellwood, Ill. and KARNAFEL,
sideswiped a tree
then crashed into a second one.
KARNAFEL was employed at the Hammond Brass Works. He was a
member of Lodge 66
United Russian Orthodox brotherhood.
He is survived by:

Association.
Retired from the Atlantic Richfield Research Lab of Harvey.

Age 41, owner of Duffy's Tavern in Calumet City died today

St. Margaret's Hospital, where he had been confined for 5
days.
NITZ resided at 13 Pulaski Road.

George Hayes WALTERS 71 of 5528 Walter, Hammond,
who died early this morning in his home.
WALTERS resided in Hammond for 15 years, coming here
from Kentucky, where he was born Oct. 13, 1876.

Daniel MULLER 80 Hammond and East Chicago resident for 27
years,
died today at 8 am in the home of his daughter, Mrs. William
FUZY,
6555 Forest Ave., Hammond, wife of the prominent attorney
and
former judge.
The deceased succumbed after a long illness. He was born in
Hungary
and came to the United States in 1907. The daughter, who is
prominent
in midwest Hungarian American charitable and cultural
movements, and
a granddaughter Alice, and the son in law survive.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 pm in the FUZY
residence
and at the Hungarian Reformed Church in Indiana Harbor.
Rev. Alex Mircse will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill
Cemetery.
