The Fred Witsche Family of Jay County, IN.
Fred came to the U.S in 1884 from Hindelbank, Bern, Switzerland with his parents at the age of 18 yrs.
He settled in Jay & on 24 Sep 1892 he married Minnie Steel
She was the daughter of David & Nancy Harter Steel.
It appears that they had at least 13 children.
Fred was an unskilled day laborer
It appears that he never owned any property
He died in 1937 & Minnie in 1935, probably in Jay County.

The photo was taken between 1915 & 1920 either in Redkey or Portland.

Married Letha Zearbaugh in 1919
They had a daughter Grace.

Had a daughter Ruth E. in 1917
The father was listed as Isaac Garringer.

Listed in the 1927 Portland Directory as living on S.Vine street.
He married a Marie unknown.
His Occupation was Plumber.
