Helen Wood
Helen M. Wood, 1304 Massachusetts Ave., Portland, died
Sunday afternoon at the Jay County Hospital after an extended illness. She
was 70.
She had been a resident of Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home
in Dunkirk for several years.
Bom in Pennville on Feb. 13, 1923, she
was the daughter of Lennie and Ida (Lanning) Walker. She was married on
April 18, 1941 to Woodrow Wood, who survives.
Also surviving are a
son, Robert Wood of Indiana; two brothers, Fred Walker, Portland, and
William Walker, Pennville; seven sisters, Mrs. Esther Burkey, Mrs. Inez
Motter, Mrs. James (Mabel) Holcomb, Mrs. Nicholas (Jean) Balle, Mrs. Eldon
(Barbara) Burkett, all of Portland; Mrs. Dalton (Margaret) Smith, Celina,
Ohio, and Mrs. George (Pat) Miller, Sharpsville; and several nieces and
nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Baird- Freeman
Funeral Home, with the Rev. H.R. Burkett officiating. Friends may call from
5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
