Bettie Kelly, a former Portland resident, passed away on January 28, 2020
at the age of 91. She was born on February 27, 1928 to Donald Farris and
Dollie (Nichols) Farris of Portland. She graduated from Portland High School
in May of 1946 and married her high school sweetheart, Dick Oliver Kelly,
who passed away on January 16, 2017. They were married for 71 years.
Surviving are her two daughters, Linda S. (Kelly) Ford of Greenfield,
Indiana and Kellie S. Kelly of Fishers, Indiana and their spouses
respectively Darrell V. Ford and Anthony S. Tai. Bettie has four
grandchildren ; Gary Ford, Andrew Ford, Julia Sample and Kaelyn Tai. Also
there are seven great grandchildren; Jakob Ford, Marcus Ford, Alyssa Ford,
Wesley Ford, Jackson Sample, Madison Sample and Franklin Ford. Also a
special mention to Louis and Susan Griffith of Fort Wayne, Indiana and their
children Abby, Andrew and Ashley.
Funeral services will be held at
Baird-Freeman Funeral Home 221 North Meridian Street Portland, Indiana on
Friday January 31, 2020 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Gil Alicea presiding. Burial
will follow in the Wells Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 AM
till 1:00 PM. Bettie and Dick were members of West Walnut Street Church of
Christ in Portland and memorials can be made to the church.
