POWER MOWER ACCIDENT FATAL
JAY COUNTY WOMAN DIES FROM
TETANUS AFTER STRUCK BY ROCK
Portland, July 18—Funeral
services for Mrs. Eloise Strait, 31, of three miles northwest of Portland,
will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Portland Church of the Nazarene, Rev.
Floyd Zurcher officiating. Burial will be in the Pennville IOOF Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Baird Funeral Home until 1 p.m. Thursday.
Mrs. Strait, wife of Kenneth Strait, died Monday morning at an Indianapolis
Hospital as the result of a power mower accident a week ago. She was mowing
the lawn at their farm home when a rock became caught in the mower. It was
dislodged with force and struck her in the finger.
The finger seemed
bruised but not too sore and little attention was paid to it until last
Friday, when it became swelled. It was diagnosed as tetanus and she was
taken to the hospital.
Mrs. Strait was a niece of Mrs. Raymond Van Emon
of east of Geneva.
