Stephen W. “Steve” Ray age 78, of Portland passed away Sunday September
6, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Paoli, Indiana on January 5, 1942,
son of Paul W. and Grace (Dollar) Ray. Steve was married December 25, 1988
to Pam Sheffer who survives. He was a meat cutter for Fenter's Boneless Beef
for 26 years and was a detective for Allied Federation. He was in TV
commercials in Florida and had offers for movie parts, did consulting for
Bellcher Knife Company in Vermillion, Ohio. He was a 1960 Pennville High
School graduate, served on Pennville Volunteer Fire Department and was a
Weblo Scout Leader.
Surviving are his wife Pam, Four sons Nick Ray
(wife Darlene) of Pennville, Rob Ray (wife Robbie) of Pennville, Chris Ray
(wife Kathy) of Bryant and Jeff Ray (wife Nicole) of Portland, step son
Brian Brown of Wilshire, Ohio, step daughter Wendy Mink of Fort Wayne, one
brother Lanny Ray (wife Jan) of Warren, Indiana, Two sisters Joan Sewell of
Fort Wayne and Sharon Schisler of Venice, Florida, Eight grandchildren and
several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday
September 9, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor
Mike Hodson presiding. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Pennville.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. Memorials can be made to
Southern Care Hospice Services in Muncie, Indiana.
