PORTLAND -
Lois P. Hinshaw, 89, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012 at Elmcroft Nursing Facility in Muncie.
She was born in Jay County April 9, 1923 the daughter of Leonard and
Pearl (Teeters) Penrod. She was married November 14, 1942 to Howard W.
Hinshaw and he passed away November 27, 1998.
She was retired from Jay
Garment in Portland having worked there for twenty seven years. She was a
member of the D.A.V. auxiliary.
Surviving are two daughters, Virginia Townsend of Rising Sun, IN and Nancy Carter of Muncie; one brother, Tom Penrod of Portland; two sisters, Wanda Runkle of Winchester and Jane Miller of Sun City, Arizona; four grandchildren, William Myers (wife, Cheryl) of Leesburg, IN, Doris Bowman of Rising Sun, John Carter (wife, Julie) of Muncie and Mrs. Robert (Cheryl) Dominick of Albany; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hiram Penrod and Freddie
Penrod; one sister, Mary Alice Bushall and a great-grandchild, Steven Myers
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at
Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland, with Pastor Rogers Durham presiding.
Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Pennville.
Visitation will
be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials can be made to Shrine Crippled Children's or Alzheimer's
Foundation.
