Arthur Ray Barnes, 90, former Petroleum Hardware Store owner, died Sunday
at his home in Petroleum. A native of Nottingham Township, he was born
August 4, 1881, to William and Ella Cory Barnes. His marriage to Emma C.
Alberson, who survives, took place on July 21, 1906, at Phenix.
He
retired from the hardware business in 1966. He was a member of the Petroleum
United Methodist Church and the Moose Lodge. He was a lifelong resident of
Wells County.
Surviving in addition to the wife are a daughter, Miss
Thelma Barnes of Petroleum, a son, Claude O., also of Petroleum; a brother,
H. Joe of Iola, Kansas; two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at the Thoma Funeral Home with Rev.
Ralph Huey and Rev. Floyd Nevil officiating; burial in the IOOF Cemetery at
Pennville.
