Kenley Barcus, age 85, a resident of rural Portland, passed away on
Friday, June 11, 2021 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He was
a former resident of Pennville.
Kenley was born on July 27, 1935, in
Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Floyd and Leota (Stemen) Barcus. He
graduated from Poling High School in 1953 and retired from General Motors in
Marion after 30 years of service. Kenley was a very active member of Union
Chapel Church where he served in many roles including Church Leadership,
Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader and Church Bus Driver. He married
Mabeline Bower on September 27, 1957 and she passed away on May 17, 2021.
Survivors include:
1 daughter: Tina O’Dell (husband Ron) –
Pennville, Indiana
2 sons: Steve Barcus (wife Brenda) – Portland,
Indiana
Kevin Barcus (wife Wanda) – Redkey, Indiana
1 sister:
Charlene Blowers (husband Max) – Bryant, Indiana
7 grandchildren and
6 great grandchildren
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-7p.m.
at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services
will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Union Chapel Church, 6200 N. 375 W.,
Bryant, Indiana 47326. Private burial will be held at IOOF Twin Hill
Cemetery in Pennville.
In lieu of flowers, the family request
memorials be directed towards Union Chapel Church.
