Mary Ann (Shepherd) Vanover

Mary Ann Vanover, 90, Montpelier, died at 1:18 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 at her son’s residence in Montpelier.

Born May 1, 1914 in Leslie County, Kentucky to Elisha and Lucy Ellen Browning Shepherd, she married Buck Vanover there on July 19, 1930; he died July 26, 1979.

She was retired from Franklin Electric Co., and was a member of the Church of Christ in Bluffton.

Survivors include two sons, Darnell Vanover of Montpelier and Kash Vanover of Keystone; three daughters, Bessie Wilson of Bryant, Kay Enterline of Pennville and Helen Buchanan of Wilshire, Ohio; 28 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and 18 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, four brothers, and one granddaughter.

Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home in Bluffton. Calling hours are Wednesday from 1 to 8 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Pennville. Preferred memorials to the church.
