Betty E. Strait, 93, of Montpelier, IN, passed away at 6:30 AM on Sunday,
November 10, 2019 at IU Health Blackford Hospital in Hartford City, IN. She
was born on Sunday, February 07, 1926, in Montpelier, IN. She married Paul
R. Strait on Saturday, September 04, 1965 at the Montpelier Church of
Christ, Montpelier, IN. Betty was a 1944 graduate of Montpelier High School.
She had started working at the young age of 5 in the family grocery store
known as the Garinger Grove Grocery Store. She worked as the school clerk
for 21 1/2 years after graduating. Betty had also worked with the County
Surveyor, and worked in Dr. Burns office for 11 years. She also helped at
the flower shop in Montpelier. She was a 75 year member of Order of Eastern
Star and Past Worthy Matron. She was a member of the Indiana State Teachers
Association, Montpelier Lions Club, Montpelier First Baptist Church,
Montpelier Senior Citizens, and Farm Bureau.
She will be sadly missed
by her Son - Dean Strait, Montpelier, IN, Daughter-in-law - Linda Strait,
FL, Nieces & Nephews - Jerry & Penny White, John & Jill O'Conner, Monica
Lips, and Special Friends - Cindy Norton, Kim & Deb Penrod, Ron & Sondra
Ireland, & Jeff & Leisa McCammon.
She was preceded in death by her
Father - Harry Walter Grove, Mother - Effie Florende (Garinger) Grove,
Husband - Paul R. Strait, Daughter - Ellen Elaine Strait, Son - Glen Allen
Strait, and Nephew- John Barlow.
Family and friends may gather to
share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home 109 W. Windsor St.
Montpelier, IN. 47359 on Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 8:00
PM. A Eastern Star service will be held at 7:00 PM.
A service to
celebrate Betty’s life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 10:00 AM
on Friday, November 15, 2019 with Ryan Ingram officiating. Interment will
follow in the Twin Hill - I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Pennville.
