George E. Mills, 73, Rt. 2, Bryant, father of two Adams County residents, died Monday in Wishard Hospital, Indianapolis, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Howard County, Indiana, on March 29, 1908 to Lora and Ida Alice Pickering Mills and, on December 28, 1929, married the former Lenora Pace, who survives.
He was a retired farmer in Jay County, a 50-year member of Bluffton Moose Lodge 242, and the founder and charter member of the Limberlost Coon Hunters' Club of Bryant.
Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Darlene Mills of Bryant; four daughters, Mrs. Dorwin (Evelyn) Waters of Berne; Mrs. Richard (Annette) Enochs of Hartford City; Mrs. Wilbur (Carolyn) Bailey of 211 Grant St.,; and Mrs. Larry (Elaine) Ruth of Portland; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland, Rev. L. E. Pucker officiating. Burial will be in Twin Hills Cemetery in Pennville.
Visiting hours at the funeral home are until 9 p.m. today and until the service Thursday.
