Former county resident dies
James Orel Hapner,
75, of Dunkirk, a native of Adams county, died shortly after midnight
Thursday at the Dunkirk Convalescent Home, Dunkirk. He was a retired
employee of Indiana Glass Co. where he had worked for 18 years.
Born
Aug. 30, 1898, he was the son of Raymond and Ann E. Hiestand-Hapner, and was
married to Sarah Ickes, who survives. Hapner was a member of the American
Flint Glass Workers Union.
Surviving besides his wife are one
step-daughter, Mrs. Jack Wheeler, Mansfield, O.; three sisters, Mrs. Wight
(Edna) Cassel, Mrs. Harold (Ethel) Bennett, and Mrs. Robert (Elma)
Hagenbaugh, Portland, and three step-grandchildren.
Funeral services
will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Baird-Freeman funeral home in
Portland with Rev. J. Robert Coovert officiating. Burial will be in the
Pennville IOOF cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m.
today.
