Stanley E. Emery, age 73, a resident of rural Portland, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Stan was born on November 5, 1946 in Muncie, Indiana, the son of Edward
(Buck) and Thelma (Maynard) Emery. He graduated from Portland High School in
1964. Stan married Eileen Fifer on May 25, 1967.
Stan was a veteran
of the U.S. Navy serving during Vietnam on the USS Barney. He then worked
for Portland Teledyne Forge for over 20 years and owned and operated Stan
Emery Trucking for over 35 years. He attended Southside Church of Christ in
Portland. Stan enjoyed the outdoors where he fished and hunted. He was an
avid knife collector and enjoyed NASCAR. He loved wintering in Florida after
retirement.

Visitation will
be held on Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral
Home in Portland. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at
the funeral home. Bob Graham will officiate and burial will follow in IOOF
Twin Hill Cemetery in Pennville.
Memorials may be directed towards
Jay County Heart Fund or Jay County 4-H Shooting Sports or Jay County 4-H
Dairy Club.
