Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland for Raymond T. Elliott, 65 year-old Portland resident who passed away Saturday in the Clinic Hospital at Bluffton. Calling at the funeral home began at 2 p.m. today.
A graduate of the Reppert Auction School, Mr. Elliott was a well-known auctioneer.
Appointed postmaster of the Portland Post Office in mid-1965, he retired from that position in March of 1974. Prior to joining the post office, he and his wife operated Elliott’s Drive-In Restaurant in Portland, and he also operated a Massey-Harris implement business from 1949 to 1959; Mr. Elliott also farmed in Jay County for many years.
Since retiring, Mr. Elliott and his wife had been residing
in Florida in the winter months.
Survivors include the wife, the former
Anna Mae Rowland; a son, Jeff of Lisle, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Donand
(Nancy) Garringer of Fort Wayne; three sisters, a brother, and two
grandchildren.
