Sue Hilfiker age 76, of rural Portland and Avon Park, Florida passed away in the Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center in Sebring, Florida on Friday March 10, 2017. She was born March 19, 1940 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Kenneth and Ema Lucile (Mitchell) Newell. She was married December 7, 1959 to Allen Hilfiker who survives. She was a bookkeeper for the family farm and also worked at Portland City Hall and Abstract Offices in Portland. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Eastern Star in Ft. Recovery, D.A.R. and 1958 Madison Twp. High School graduate.
Surviving are her husband Allen, two sons Scott Hilfiker (wife Kelli) of Portland and Brett Hilfiker of Dunkirk, one brother Kenneth Newell of Kokomo and two sisters Cheryl Newell of Warsaw and Betty Gibson of Hamilton, Four Grandchildren and four great grandchildren
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 AM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral
Home with Pastor Robin Owens presiding. Burial will follow in the Salamonia
Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. Memorials can be
made to the Jay County Cancer Society or Mandy's Blessings.
