Eldon Stevens Sr., age 84 passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at
his home in Portland. He retired from the Portland Forge after 35 years.
After retirement he was a school crossing guard for Jay School Corporation.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked part time for several years as
an assistant for Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home. He attended the Church
of the Brethren in Portland.
Eldon Stevens was born May 22, 1935 in
LaFontaine, Indiana the son of Arthur and Millie Stevens. He was married in
1962 to Bernice Jobe and she passed away in 1987. He then married Marjorie
(Hastings) Miller in 1988 and she passed away in 2012.

daughter- Janet Taylor (husband-Mark), Springfield, Tennessee

Sisters- His twin sister-Elda Mae Weaver (husband-Don), Kokomo, and Eva
Booher, Marion
4 Grandchildren and several Step Grandchildren, Great
grandchildren, and Great Great grandchildren
He was preceded in death
by 2 sons- Eldon Jr. and Earl Stevens, 1 daughter- Janice Reynolds, 5 Step
children, 5 brothers, and 1 sister.
Visitation will be held from
5-8pm on Friday in the Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in
Portland.
Funeral services will be at 11:00am Saturday in the funeral
home with Pastor Kevin McClung officiating the services. Burial will follow
in the Salamonia Cemetery southeast of Portland. Portland American Legion
Post 211 will be in charge of military rites at the cemetery.
Memorials may be directed towards the Jay County Cancer Society.
