John Kent McClung, age 74, of Portland passed away Wednesday April 13,
2022 in IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born in Portland on October
3, 1947 the son of Raymond and Nellie (Wiebusch) McClung. He was married on
June 1, 1968 to Sherryl Lewis who survives. John had worked for Red Gold and
Naas Foods as a purchasing manager, he was a 1965 Portland High School
graduate and a Ball State graduate. He was a member of the Church of the
Bretheren. He enjoyed all competitive sports, fishing and his family and
grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife Sherryl, one son Chad McClung
(wife Lea Ann) of Connersville, one daughter Anne Miller (son in law Mike)
of McGaheysville, Virginia, Four brothers Steve McClung (wife Sheron) of
Portland, David McClung (wife Kathleen) of Portland, Kit McClung (wife Dana)
of Portland and Kevin McClung (wife Diane) of Portland, Three sisters Martha
Gross of New Haven, Barbara Glentzer (husband Mike) of Ft. Wayne and Peggy
Peterson (husband Mike) of Portland, Four grandchildren Brooklyn, Jocelyn,
Gavin and Brady. He was preceded in death by a sister Kathleen.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 2:00 PM in the
Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin McClung presiding. Burial will
follow in the Salamonia Cemetery. The visitation will be Saturday from 12:00
– 2:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the First Church of the Brethren.
