Alberta J. Beeks age 91 of Fort Wayne and former Jay County resident passed
away Saturday March 23, 2019 in Grey Stone Health and Rehabilitation in Fort
Wayne. She was born in Portland June 1, 1927 the daughter of Ray and Ina
(Leonhard) Freemyer. She was married April 20, 1947 to Robert H. Beeks and
he died July 16, 1997. Alberta was a manager for Montgomery Ward and worked
at Ft. Recovery Equity for twenty four years. She was a 1945 Portland High
School graduate, member of Noble Twp. Busy Bee Home Ec., Salamonia VFW Aux.
2840, Salamonia United Church of Christ, West Walnut Street Church of Christ
and Eastern Star.
Surviving are two daughters Ginger Ouwenga (husband
Robert) of Findlay, Ohio and Ina Kay McAbee (husband Bill) of Fort Wayne,
Four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by a sister Roberta Lyons.
Funeral services will be Friday March 29,
2019 at 4:00 pm in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Green
presiding. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Burial will be in
the Salamonia Cemetery at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Jay
County Cancer Society
