DIED SUNDAY EVENING
At Butterworth Hospital, Battle Creek, Mich. - Due To Goitre
County
Surveyor Orval Harruff of this city, and brother, Russ Harruff, of Fort
Wayne, who left Saturday afternoon for Battle Creek, Mich., to visit their
sister, Mrs. Linus Beard, a patient at the Butterworth hospital, arrived
there just a few hours before her death. Mrs. Beard had been suffering from
goitre for sometime and Saturday word was received here by relatives that
her condition was serious, her two brothers leaving for Battle Creek in
response to the message. She died at 6:10 last evening.
Mrs. Beard was a
daughter of Mrs. S. E. Harruff, of this city, her maiden name being Bessie
Harruff, and was well and favorably known in this city and her many friends
will regret to learn of her death. Besides the two brothers, a sister, Miss
Della Harruff, and her mother survive. No word had been received this
afternoon when and where the funeral would be held.

Body of Mrs. Linus Beard Will
Arrive in Decatur at Midnight
FUNERAL THURSDAY
Body Will Be Taken To Home of Mother, Mrs. S. Harruff on Fifth Street
The body of Mrs. L. Beard, whose death occurred Sunday evening at the Butterworth hospital, Grand Rapids, Mich., from goitre, will arrive in this city at 12:45 o'clock tonight over the G. R & I. and will be taken to the home of the mother, Mrs. S. E. Harruff, on Fifth street.
Funeral services will be held sometime Thursday, definite arrangements being held up pending word as to when the sister, Mrs. Opal Marshall, who lives at Ft. Worth, Tex., will arrive here. Services, however, will probably be in charge of Rev. C. L. Haney of the Evangelical church. A brother, Bert, who lives at San Bernardino, Cal., will not be able to attend the services.
Mrs. S. E. Harruff, son, Orval and daughter, Miss Della, who were
with Mrs. Beard when she passed away, arrived at their home here last night.
Accompanying the remains to this city tonight will be the husband, daughter,
Helen, aged twelve, sons, Kenneth and Roger, aged ten and five,
respectively.
Besides the husband, the children and the mother, the
following brothers and sisters also survive: Orval Harruff, Adams county
surveyor; Russell Harruff of Fort Wayne; Bert Harruff of San Bernardino,
Cal.; Mrs. Opal Marshall of Ft. Worth, Tex., and Miss Della Harruff of this
city.

FUNERAL TOMORROW
The body of Mrs. Linus Beard, formerly
Bessie Harruff, of this city, whose death occurred Sunday eveniing at Grand
Rapids, Mich., arrived in this city last night at midnight and was taken to
the home of her mother, Mrs. S. E. Harruff, on South Fifth street. Funeral
services will be from the Harruff home tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock with
burial in the Decatur cemetery. Rev. Haney of the Evangelical church will
officiate.
