Edith A. Walter, 102, of Berne, Indiana, passed away Monday, Oct. 3,
2016, at Swiss Village in Berne.
She was born in of March 1914, in Jay
County, Indiana. She married Jay Walter on June 23, 1946, in Jay County,
Indiana; and he preceded her in death.
Edith was a Ball State
University graduate. She had been a teacher for 37 years working in Jay
County for six years and Adams County for 31 years.
She was a member
of the Bryant Redeemer Lutheran Church, Indiana State Teachers Association,
Berne Senior Citizens, Bryant Senior Citizens, Pleasant Neighbors Ext.
Homemakers Club, and ELCW Women's Organization.
Loving survivors
include: a son, Don J. Walter of Geneva, Indiana; a daughter, Sara Kessing
of Indianapolis, Indiana; and three grandchildren. She was also
preceded in death by her parents, George and Dessie (Hough) Stolz; four
brothers, Orison, Charles, Paul, and George Stolz, and two sisters, Martha
Mitley, and Anna Matthias.
A service to celebrate Edith's life will
be at the Redeemer Lutheran Church Bryant, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct.
5, with the Pastor Robert Abner officiating. Interment will follow in the
Mt. Zion Cemetery in Portland, Indiana.
Arrangements are being handled by Downing & Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva
