Maxine Hartzell, age 95, a resident of Portland passed away peacefully
surrounded by her family at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital on Saturday,
November 20, 2021. She was retired from EPC in Geneva after more than 30
years. She was a member of the Ladies of the Portland Moose. She was very
active, always working in her yard, and was still in a bowling league well
into her 90’s.
Maxine Hartzell was born March 17, 1926 in Blackford
County, Indiana the daughter of Henry Clay and Elsie (Enyart) McGahey. She
was married on February 16, 1946 to Walter Hartzell. He passed away on July
1, 1976.
Survivors Include:
Son- Jerry Hartzell (wife-Helene),
Portland,
Daughter- Joetta Vore(husband- John), Portland.

Grandchildren- Mark Vore, Emily Wheeler, and Tyler Hartzell, 2 Great
Grandsons and 2 Great Great Grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00pm-7:00pm Friday
in the Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral home in Portland. Funeral
services to celebrate the life of Maxine Hartzell will be at 11:00am
Saturday at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home. Pastor Hugh Kelly
will officiate the services and burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery
east of Portland.
